Verizon Store taking shape at old Craniums Building

A Verizon store is quickly taking shape at the site of the old Craniums Building.

We first reported here on the Douglas Park Cooperative blog that the former neighborhood hangout was going to be occupied after years of sitting vacant. We discovered this by browsing building permits listed for our neighborhood on the Department of Planning and Development website. You can browse permits here: http://web1.seattle.gov/dpd/maps/

Neighbors speculated for years what kind of business would move into the building with its unique sculpture in front and high visibility from Lake City Way.

Verizon, welcome to the neighborhood!

Kids create artwork with food at DPC Farmers Market table

On Thursday Douglas Park Cooperative hosted a table at the Lake City Farmers Market. There we offered information on our neighborhood and hosted an activity for kids —and a couple adults.

The visitors to our table created watercolor art with crushed blueberries, hibiscus and spinach leaves. Above is a sample of the creations made by our talented market artists.

If you would like to volunteer to host an activity for kids at the Farmers Market please email Annie Stocker: annie@twodogyoga.com

Its a great way to meet neighbors and share with our community.
